International Development - Michael M. Wilson

Starting in the 1960's as a young boy with his father on CBS in Mark Wilson’s The Magic Land of Allakazam, Wilson has been in the entertainment business his entire life. Through his college years he was intimately involved in his father’s business in the production of spectacular magic shows at amusement parks and state fairs across America. In the early 1980's he traveled to China when his father was invited to be the first variety entertainer to perform there since World War II. This trip inspired Wilson to learn Chinese.

From 1984 thru 2010 Wilson nurtured two-way entertainment and attractions trade between China and the world with his company International Special Attractions. His accomplishments include 36 national touring productions, 53 amusement park bookings, a multitude state fair and expo engagements, 5 large-scale annual Christmas holiday attractions, 2 Broadway stage productions, and numerous other variety shows and large municipal events and attractions around the world. Since 1980, Wilson has traveled to China more than 107 times and is considered by many an expert in contemporary Chinese entertainment arts.

Wilson retired from his show entrepreneurial business life late in 2010 to devote his life to the mission and vision of Torchbearers Foundation for Missions, Reconciliation & Development and now regularly accompanies Dr. Niboh on his five week summer visit to Cameroon. The Foundation looks forward to Wilson’s keen skills at international negotiation and entrepreneurial development to help TBF move forward with its projects in Africa. He will also be heading up development of an expanded grant solicitation effort and work with other foundations and non-governmental organizations with parallel goals to our in Christian ministry.

Wilson holds a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley, a Master’s degree in Business from the University of Illinois, Chinese language credentials from Middlebury College, and was a visiting research scholar for two years at Peking University in China.
